A six week Yoga programme for children
Why should children do yoga?
Yoga has multiple benefits both for education and the individual
Yoga is particularly useful for professionals working with children who have sensory processing disorders, autism, Aspergers and learning difficulties.
Regular practice of yoga will improve an individual’s flexibility, fitness, balance, co-ordination & concentration. It will enhance a child’s social and emotional wellbeing leading to an increased sense of self confidence.
In accordance with the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 and 2, during this course childrenwill:Master basic movements and developed balance, agility, co-ordination andapplied these in a wide range of activities.Develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance.Perform a range of dances (vinyasa flows).Compare their performances with previous ones and demonstratedimprovement to achieve personal best.
Enhance pupil’s social skills
Teach them appropriate affirmations and positive self motivators to help boost their self-esteem
Teach children that it is fine to sit quietly and in stillness sometimes and techniques to help them achieve this
Teach them breathing techniques and self relaxation techniques that can be used it all parts of their lives helping to ease anxiety and tension
Provides students healthy ways to express and balance their emotions
Yoga learnt on our training courses can be either used as part of a physical education curriculum or used on a daily basis to help encourage calm and focused learners
All children can access and benefit from yoga at their own ability level
Your Instructor
With a career spanning over 25 years, Fiona now specialises in both Hatha and Vanyasa yoga, passing on her vast knowledge and experience of these disciplines to students of all ages and ability using a series of relaxing programs.
Qualifications
- 2013 - CYQ Level three qualification in Yoga
- 2013 - CYQ Level two qualification in Exercise to Music
- CertEd at the University of Wolverhampton
- A1/A2 Assessor’s qualification
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education
